How to link bank accounts
Linking Your Bank and Credit Accounts
How to securely connect through Plaid and what to expect
When you first link your bank or credit account in Lucky Friday you’ll go through a secure connection powered by Plaid This is the same technology trusted by major apps like Venmo and Robinhood and it allows you to connect your accounts without ever sharing your bank credentials directly with us
How does it work
Once you tap to link an account Plaid opens a secure window where you can search for your bank credit union or card provider You’ll then log in directly to that institution just like you would on their official site or app Plaid handles the encryption and token exchange behind the scenes so your login details are never stored or seen by Lucky Friday
What institutions are supported
Most major banks credit card companies and credit unions are supported by Plaid This includes Chase Bank of America Capital One Wells Fargo American Express Discover and hundreds more Some smaller local credit unions and niche lenders are also available You can search by name or routing number to find yours
If your institution isn’t supported yet you can still manually track spending by adding transactions or importing a CSV but we’re always working to expand support
Why do we use access tokens
When you connect your account Plaid gives us a unique access token that lets us sync your transactions securely It’s kind of like a temporary key It doesn’t store your password or grant unlimited access to your account Instead it lets Lucky Friday pull in new transactions and balances so your budget always reflects real life
Your access token is stored securely using bank-grade encryption and is never shared outside of our system If you ever disconnect an account the token becomes useless and your connection is fully closed
