How to Create and Manage Your Budget
Build it your way and adjust anytime
Lucky Friday makes budgeting flexible so you can plan ahead or adjust on the fly Every category can have a default budget and you can still fine tune it month by month if life shifts
Default budgets vs monthly overrides
When you first set up a category you’ll enter a default budget This is the amount you usually want to spend in that area every month It helps give you a consistent baseline and powers your annual view
But some months are different Maybe December gets a bigger gift budget or July has travel expenses That’s where overrides come in You can tap on any month and set a custom amount just for that one The rest of your months will still follow the default unless you say otherwise
Annual vs monthly views
Use the monthly view when you want to see your real time spending for a specific month and how you’re tracking against that month’s budget
Switch to annual view to zoom out You’ll see your total planned budget across the year your actual spending and how each category stacks up over time This is great for spotting patterns like subscriptions that add up or big seasonal spikes
Where your category totals come from
Each category’s total is based on the real transactions that sync from your bank accounts or that you’ve added manually Those amounts are grouped based on your categorization and any custom rules you’ve set up So if you split a transaction across two categories both get tracked correctly
When you override a monthly budget or change the default the view updates instantly so you always know where things stand
